Sarah Davis Wall Art

Sarah Davis began illustrating children’s books in 2007 and has since collaborated with several leading authors in Australian and New Zealand. She was born in London, but spent her childhood in Sweden, America, and New Zealand where she spent a lot of time doodling endlessly, chasing sheep, digging for worms, and of course falling in rivers. Sarah now spends most of her time in Sydney searching for ideas, spilling pots of paint, chasing her 3 children, and doodling endlessly. She loves art and can’t imagine ding something else. She’s a qualified secondary teacher who holds an honors degree in literature, and has taught creative writing, English and art in NZ secondary schools for five years. As a self-taught designer and illustrator she’s constantly on the lookout for better methods, more information, or cunning new tricks.

In 2004, she moved to Sydney where she began freelancing in commercial illustration for film, advertising, toy design and editorial publishing. The Book Company employed her as their in-house designer; she also worked as senior illustrator and an art director for Childhood Heroes, where she was in charge of producing books in association with leading sports stars such as Brett Lee, Tim Cahill, and United Kingdom footballers Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard. In July 2009, she decided to go into illustrating picture books on full time basis. The artist adapts her style to be in harmony with the author's text, so her work ranges from quirky digital cartoons to emotionally charged realistic oils. Sarah also handles the layout and design for most of the books she illustrates.
