Kent Wallis Wall Art

Kent Wallis (Born January 10, 1945) is an American artist who blends realism and impressionism in his paintings. He was born in Ogden, Utah, and received his education from Utah State University where he studied Business Administration, graduating with a bachelor's and master's degree in 1969. Unlike many artists, Kent’s art career came at a later stage in life although he had started painting at an early age. After receiving his university education, he set out in the job market and worked in the fields of finance and marketing for B. F. Goodrich Company based in Akron, Ohio. Six years down the line, he kept having a strong feeling that his job wasn’t fulfilling his creative capabilities. In early 1975, Kent started painting and drawing more often as a way to sharpen his painting skills. Mid that year, Kent had experienced growth in his painting and was even more convinced to start painting professionally.

Kent decided to quit his job and move to Logan, Utah, together with his family where he started an art supply store. In arts, he's basically self-taught. He has flourished from inborn talent, enabling him to capture the beauty of nature through the use of colors. Kent applies a unique palette of bold and clear colors that project happiness. He creates his painting on canvas, capturing beautifully colored landscapes using the impression he gets from any subject matter. Kent has won several awards including First-place Oil in the Oregon Trail National Show (1983), Juror's Choice Award, Springville Museum Salon (1985), Utah Governor's Mansion Artist Series Award (1998) and a 2002 award as one of the most honored artists of Utah. He became a member of the Society of American Impressionists in 1988. He is also a member of the Society of Plein Air Artists of America and Northern California Society of Plein Air Painters.
