Karen Avery Wall Art

Karen Avery loved art from a very young age. In fact from the time she could hold a pencil in her hand, she was drawing on sidewalks, walls and eventually on paper. And at that young age, Karen won many design awards. However, she never began formal training until she received a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration after attending Long Beach State University in Southern California. Just one month after her graduation, Karen found a job with a major greeting card company and began her professional career producing posters, art, and prints. In 1994 she was nominated for a “Louie" at the New York Stationery and Gift Show for imprintable invitations. Karen’s passion for art has grown over the years and this passion has led her to a brilliant creative career.

Her work is greatly inspired by French Impressionism and her love of life and nature. She composes her work through the skillful use of the graceful transparency of colors. Karen embraces both traditional and modern techniques and flirts with experimentation as well. Karen learnt to paint in oils several years ago, and is currently working in gouache, which she uses both opaquely and transparently in her posters, art, and prints. With a skillful artistic flamboyance, her passion for her artwork becomes alive in her artwork. Her designs vary from art decor, to turn of the century, to the comforting innocence of the country home look. She has made a name for herself in the licensing world. Karen exhibits her talents in various fields.
