Colin Johnson Wall Art

Colin Johnson enjoys driving mac trucks, collecting art and toys, circumnavigating the globe in his hydrofoil, building quonset huts, and is also a huge fan of both film and music. He lives and works in Minnesota in the Twin Cities area. He has been a professional gallery artist and freelance illustrator since the spring of 1995 after his graduation from The Maryland Institute College of Art. Johnson’s work has received honors from The Society of Publication Design, Print's Regional Design Annual, American Illustration, Communication Arts Illustration Annual, and Society of Illustrators Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, he received the "Gold Award." Johnson serves The AMA, American Airlines, BHG, Audubon, Converse, The Chicago Tribune, Fast Company, Epoch Films, National Geographic, The Harvard Business Review, Newsweek, The New York Times, Reader's Digest, Raygun, Time Inc., Smithsonian, and U.S. News and World Report.

Johnson thinks that he tends to combine a number of different techniques and styles which he hopes represent his work well. He doesn’t think that his “style” is as clearly defined as that of other artists that he knows but as long as the work is consistently progressive and strong then he says he’s satisfied. The question of his style is one that he feels should be posed for the viewers of his work than for himself as the artist. He has recently been a part of gallery shows in: New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Hamburg (Germany), Portland, Rome (Italy) and Melbourne (Australia). His art can be found in many outlets all over the world.
