Parthenon Prints

Parthenon art is a popular choice among history enthusiasts of any kind. This majestic building was originally built as a temple dedicated to Athena and has since then been a mosque, a Christian church, and was nearly completely destroyed! However, some of the most valuable statues and historical art that has ever been discovered was in the Parthenon and it's considered one of the most revealing buildings of the high point in classical Greek culture.

Very few artists attempt the massive reconstruction required for including the Parthenon in their monument art and even fewer attempt to draw the ruin that it is today. However, thanks to photographic building pictures, many art students have studied this particular building and many of the artistic principles that are used today, in art and architecture, were heavily influenced by the ancient statues and paintings of this temples.

However, Parthenon art doesn't just have value to history enthusiasts. The Parthenon is considered a symbol of western civilization and democracy, two aspects that were widely attributed to the Greek goddess Athena when the Parthenon was completed in 432 B.C. For many people, this ruined building is not only an example of historical artwork, but a warning of the downfalls of corrupt government.

Parthenon art may appear to only depict a ruined building, but it's so much more than that for people who love ancient statues and artwork or historical paintings. For them, the Parthenon is a symbol of justice, equality, and a call to action all at the same time. Despite the centuries, the Parthenon is still inspiring people through its presence in the art that captures it.
